Image of the canal on the neg is soft, probably shake, and the scans are really poor (72dpi according to my computer), but they let me know there are no holes in the shutter. What some of the other negs show is how much wear is in the lens, it seems I did not fully extend the lens before locking 🙄 but now I know to look out for that happening. I must take a tripod to the canal before summer - I'm a sucker for reflections myself 🙂

f/stop was f/8 or maybe f/11 - I was guessing exposure and if I remember correctly ised 1/1000 sec (probably f/8)

Peter, in my opinion you are fortunate. I had a worn Summarit that I traded for a Summitar, which is a great lens. When I got the Summitar, the aperture ring was stiff and I had it cleaned and lubed. They are definitely worth fixing.

V.Nice pictures.I've recently got a 111c myself,plus a Canon 1.8,both from my friend Ash,by coincidence another member has recently told me how good the Summitar is.
Unless I'm mistaken ,your first picture is of the Memorial Structure at Williamsons Park in Lancaster?🙂

Hi Brian, Certainly is the memorial (Does the name Scotforthlad mean you hail from Scotforth, just down the road from the memorial ?) Very photogenic building but very busy on sunny days. When I took that shot there was someone using a DSLR to my left and a camera-phone to my right - the Leica drew some puzzled looks from both sides.

Youv'e hit the nail on the head,I moved to Wales from Scotforth,and had family in Moorlands and Bowerham.It was a long time ago,but I will never forget those roots.The park was a regular Sunday walk for us as children.
The other coincidence is that the other member(Shac)who offered me advice on the Summitar afew days ago,also hails from Lancaster,although he now lives in Vancouver!
Were the other pictures als ofrom around the town?The detail on the Memorial shot is outstanding,even at that low dpi.

Brian, the little church is at the other side of Williamson Park, where I think there was once an asylum. (Forgive me if my local knowledge is sketchy, only lived here a couple of years, having moved from Blackburn). The canal shot is at White Cross, a few yards from the town hall.

Hi Peter - Brian (Scotforthlad) told me about your pictures from your IIIc - some great ones. Especially liked the Ashton memorial and the Townhall. Many memories including the canal bank one - used to walk along that back many times - my gradfather worked in the mill (Storeys).
Not sure if you've found it yet but there's a good little camera store just off the townhall square - I think it's called Robertson's. Very helpful and excellent service. Reg the owner is a friend - if you decided to drop by - say hello for me please.

Great captures. The iiic is a wonderful little camera and it is hard to go wrong with a Summarit or Summitar.
