First images - Nokton 35mm f/1.2

I recently acquired the Nokton 35mm f/1.2. Here are a few pics from my initial rolls. Comments welcome and invited.

First impressions - the lens is big and it does block quite a bit of the right lower corner in the viewfinder of my M4-P but I'm loving the images it produces. Along with my MR meter, the kit looks like quite the beast. Construction is solid with a well dampened focusing ring (maybe a bit overly dampened, but smooth; may loosen with use I hope). Distance and DOF scale are clearly legible, aperture ring is solid and clicks confidently with no play - can't fault the construction.

I really like the effect of the ribbon on the box in the first photograph.

Did you have the RF well aligned in your camera? Are you satisfied with the focusing and shallow depth of field?

I haven't pulled out a ruler and tripod to make sure, but focus seems spot on at f/1.2 in actual use. I don't know when the RF was last aligned on my camera - I haven't needed to send it in as of yet. Handheld, I generally sway my body to set the final focus rather than fiddling with the lens.

I've just started using mine regularly on my M2 and so far it seems to be the combination from heaven. I did just notice recently that it does suffer from a little barrel distortion ... I've never heard much mention of this though!

yep, mine definately did loosen up, after a month or two of consistent use. construction on that lens is terrific - for me the handling is perfect. mine's taken all sorts of serious knocks (bad enough to massively dent the metal vented lens hood) and never skipped a beat - until tragically a fortnight ago it got the worst knock yet (big drop to concrete) and threw some of the apperture blades out of place. Rest of it's fine though, I'm sending it off for repairs.

The day after my nokton was damaged I bought a leica summicron 35mm asph to use as a compact backup lens (I could have bought a couple of noktons for the price! I probably should have), it's a great lens too but using it just reminds me how much I miss the big nokton..
