First M8 image, and a minor problem.

So I took the prevailing advise provided when I asked about a first lens for my new M8, opting for a 28/f2.0 Summicron. Attached is my first image with the new M8 (1/15th hand-held, ISO 160, wide open). I never realized how much I missed my M7's until I pulled up the first DNG's in Lightroom.

Now to my problem. I experimented with shooting a burst on "C" to see how the buffer would react. After the buffer filled, I expected the camera to pause to process the RAW images and then be ready for the next image. Instead, the blinking red light on the back kept on for a good 2-3 minutes before finally stopping. The last image of the burst was reported as unreadable and corrupt in Lightroom, although I was able to see the preview.

Is there an inherent problem with the buffer when shooting in continuous mode?

yeah, that red light blinks away to it's hearts content...the buffer is just a bit on the slow side with this camera.

shoot dng only, jpegs slow the buffer down almost 3 times the dng speed.

using a fast card helps a bit, but nothing overly significant (matter of seconds difference)

as far as the buffer causing the file to be unreadable/corrupt in lightroom, i'm much more inclined to believe it was just a glitch in the card since every corrupt file i've ever had in any camera was caused by the card having a spasm of sorts.

one word of advice to you though...go get one of those rubber cupboard bumper things and slap it over the selftimer feature...you'll miss a few shots for certain when that on/off switch accidentally gets brushed over to the self timer setting
i'm still waiting for a firmware update to allow setting selftimer time to 0seconds so that if you bump it over it just acts as single shot mode.

yeah the buffer is bogus.
when i shoot anything i use two bodies.
firstly so i have one wide and one longer lens.
secondly so i can fill the buffer on one body, switch and fill the next.

leica has my other body right now and it's killing my workflow.
missing so many shots!
i am really pissed!

welcome to the m8.
thats quite sharp for an M8, with a standard shutter @ a 1/15th!
nice work!
