First photographs with Fed 2E and Industar 26

Hello folks. I've at last finished a roll of XP2 through my Fed 2E and Industar 26. I've been using this with a Weston meter (that I also bought from Ebay) to investigate the use of film again.....
I am attaching three images and would welcome feedback. These are all images scanned during the developing and printing that was carried out by a local store.
The first is a lesson in parallax error, the second the view from my hotel room in Munich and the last a test of focus. I notice that the last one has a dull patch in the middle which is present on some but not all of the images in the roll. I suspect this to be a mark on the lens, although it appears clear.
I think I have some work to do regarding exposure, but all on all am not unhappy with my first attempts.

Exposure seems correct or acceptably close to correct. As for the "dull patch" in the middle of the third picture, it's most likely something bright in the lens reflecting light -- but I'd advise you to have another roll processed before coming to conclusions.

The bright patch looks like flare. The I-26 is not particularly prone to flare, but using a hood is always good practice. You are off to a good start!

i get a simular artifact in the center of images on and off. i plan to try the hood and see if it relieves the issue as well. does your FED 2 drop the images low on the negative at all? overlapping the sprocket? just curious

Roy, to know *for sure* if it's a light leak or flare, run a color film through, not another black and white.

If the light patch re-appeared and it's orange in color, it's a light leak from behind (unlikely for detachable back cameras like Fed2).

If it's white, the worst case is that you have a hole in one of your shutter curtains.

Since it's only in the one photo, least as far as I can tell, I believe it's flare.

The first picture looks fine to me the way it is, better than if the tree was in the center of the frame... or am I missing something ???

You can see it on most of the photographs in one consecutive run. What's odd is that this one is right in the middle of that run, and it's not present.
One other thing springs to mind: in this sequence I was shooting the same image with different shutter speed and aperture combinations so as so maintain the same exposure. This frame was shot wide open, so it would have had the fastest shutter speed. Could this be significant?

I shot it in the centre of the frame but you are right - it turned out better. Beginners luck!

I had a similar issue on one of my I-61s. Brian Sweeney correctly identified this as being flare coming from the aperture blades themselves! Check this thread:
