Finally, after lusting for it and saving and waiting for close to a month, I finally got my hands on my own RD-1! Purchased from Hans_Voralberg, though cosmetically it ain't perfect, it works flawlessly! Thanks man! Here are my first shots with it, the same day I got it... (first time I used a real rangefinder so forgive me if it lacks some oomph
)
My first shot, a brick wall test shot! haha

Come night time, went to my cousin's gig...

I notice, some shots have hot pixels, and it occurs randomly... is this normal for ISO 1600 shots?

Congratulations on getting your R-D1! After seeing these photos I think the two of you will be very happy together
The 'hot' pixels might only show up at certain ISO settings. The dead pixel correction tool might not get them after one attempt either.
Converting an image from RAW to JPG already does a lot to reduce them.
Keep sharing your photos!

Some good work there. Wouldn't call you a rank beginner. Offhand, I'd recommend that you keep your DSLR. For one thing, it probably has more MP; and that is important when trying to sell pictures. For another, the R-D1 won't be much good for really long lenses.

@rick: yeah, i bring it with me everywhere i go! will keep sharing photos til one of us (the camera) gives in! haha... as for hot pixels, i'll repeat the process til i'm sure none will appear
but so far, i've been shooting a combination of RAW and Jpeg... (I'm using a 1gb card since all my other cards are 4gb and up so i alternate between RAW and Jpeg mode)
@joe: yeah, i enjoy the rd-1 a lot. and i have a lot to thank for to you! it's your shots, when you first got yours, that made me want one of mine! haha
@payasam: yeah, that's what i feel with my DSLR as well. for the paid shoots, DSLR is the way (besides, clients feel more "comfortable" when they see the photog using a big camera!)
Thanks for the comments. I'm still getting used to the compositional aspect of a rangefinder. I still have the mentality that the whole viewfinder "view" is the final output
