First photos from new (old) M4

Congrats on the M4 purchase. I often hear of these lucky finds, but rarely first hand. You will find every thing that is said about them is true, good and bad! But worst of all they are addictive, no doubt the VCII is an excellent meter, but a chrome MR meter will set the lines off just so. Then perhaps you Really do that 75mm f/1.4 for those available light shots. I enjoyed your photos, especially the second one, and glad to see that it`s not a collector cam. So good luck and burn film.

Thanks - unfortunately I burn film a little too easily. It's really sifting through the wreckage to find the keepers that's difficult...

I think the only reason the man sold it to me was because he knew it would get used, and used a lot. He was telling me about the places he'd taken the M4 when travelling, and I told him I was sure that it would see a few more places yet. The two-week wait for the CLA felt like so much longer because I just wanted to get it back out there shooting again.

Something tells me lightning won't strike twice in the same place, so I think a 75/1.4 is a long ways away. In the meantime I'll have to keep maximizing what gear I have.

I'd suggest checking out the Leica MR4 meter. You can get a nice example of a used one for ~$70. They work well, and you don't have to "transfer" the shutter speed from the meter to the camera because the dial couples. I think it fits the M4-look better, too, but that could just be me.
