... Zeiss Ikon Nettar 515!

Bumper blog, photo's from the 6x4.5(cm) Zeiss Folder, and my first Large Format 4x5(inch) shots.

If anyone is interested, the link is in my Sig. I've uploaded only one photo to this thread to save bandwidth.

Tomorrow I hope to shoot a roll through the un-named 6x9 folder. Even the local vintage shop owner couldn't identify it with McKeown's. He had to agree it was likely an Ernemann from about the 1920's - more on that over the weekend.

It's a friend of mine. I was quite impressed considering that was a scale-focused photo and it's as sharp as one from the Contax 😀

He's featured on my blog before. He's Italian.

I read it but you think I know why should folding camera be unsharp? specially the one with 6x4.5 neg 😀

It should be unsharp because my judging distance can be terrible! The nettar is pre-rangefinder coupling

ah, and you think this kind of sharpness is due focusing? I highly doubt it, it has more to do the way you hold it I think 😀 anyhow thanks for information 🙂

Well as I said, there is blurring from camera shake - poor technique, but otherwise I didn't expect photo's to be in focus in distance terms either

Your dabblings in large format have inspired me and i managed to track down a monorail camera in my price range. Unfortunately my budget is kinda low (i am a student) so lets just call it a work in progress. Structurally its great!!! Its a Plaubel Pecca Universal and weights a ton! We managed to cut some a lens board and a new 6x9 back holder. All it needs is some new screw, bellows (geeze that looks complicated) and to ground some of the glass to make a decent viewing window. Oh and I managed to track down and old kodak lens and shutter which will do me fine for the time being

Hey EcoLeica thanks for the praise. Check out camerabellows - UK based. or MXV or Ffordes or even Mr Cad. Someone should have bellows, but camerabellows make them for you to fit perfectly, or else buy the DIY camera kit and you can mod the parts for your monorail 😉

Well after reading this and then doing a google for large format I found Jon Grepstad,s site for building a 5x4 monorail . Cameras and building things , I might have just managed to combine both my hobbies 🙄 So I have ordered his book though I'm not to sure about making a wooden camera , Might have to see if I can substitute alloy section and tube .

EkoLeica , here's a good site for home made bellows making if its any use to you ?
