Here are two shots with Bessa R and 35 color skopar.

Maybe these are not the shots to confirm focus accuracy, but what do you think?

Second, these shots were on quickly developable kodak c41 400 ISO b&w. Is this what I should expect from this film?

Inside shot pretty wide open as I recall.

Any hints, help or info appreciated.
Steve.

you have an excellent basic set up that could keep many happy for years and longer still if they wanted to master it.
the 35 lens is very sharp but on the high contrast side.
i would stay away from yellow filters.
for film, if you plan to stick with a chromogenic, i suggest you try the ilford, xp2 super. i know it's a matter of taste/preference but i like the ilford film much more. many of my first shots in the gallery here are made with that exact set up.
congrats and keep shooting.

Great start, Steve!

I've had my "R" for about a month, and bought it with the same lens. I think it's a sure winner. Like Joe said, it's contrasty (A good thing, I think), and sharp. So's the 75/2.5 CV. Have fun, take lotsa pics, and show us what you're doing.

Regards!

AAAARRGGHH:

Back Alley, why didn't I think of that! I ran two rolls of Fomapan ISO 200 through my Bessa R and decided the film was crap when it was probably that damn yellow filter. You say Ilford xp Super? I'll try and get some, but around here HP5 and FP4 are readily available. In the meantime I've got TriX.

As far as these particular photos - tones are not bad, but I can't tell if they are not very sharp due to poor focusing or poor scanning. I know you said that these are not to check focus accuracy, but the second shot - outside should be sharper for my liking, as lens was supposed to be closed down more. First one is not bad for a wide open lens. Maybe your shutter speed was too slow?
