Hello,

after getting my first Leica for christmas I've put through 8 rolls of films now. I'm still trying to establish a good workflow. At the moment I'm having issues with developing and scanning I need to sort out.

Apart from that I can say after 30 years of photography the Leica experience is different! I am very happy and inspired by the camera. It is a great joy to take pictures with it and yes they are different than pictures I take with other cameras. I believe the camera has a certain influence on the photographer. (The same goes for musical instruments and many other things). And people do look differently into a Leica.

Also I could not resist a 50/2 Summaron and a 90/4 Elmar for a very good price... And I'm looking very hard at a 35/2 Biogon 🙂

Anyway here is one pic from each roll of film. All images taken with the M2 and the Summaron 35/2.8

First film was a Kodak Ektar 100. Because it was grey and dark outside I had to use a flash! (Metz 40CT4).
Meet Beatrice:

The next film was an Ilford XP2 which turned out a bit flat, I guess I should have exposed it @200.

Then came a Fuji Xtra 800 which was totally distroyed by the developing lab due to old chemicals, so no pics here!

Next was an Ilford Delta 3200 which was developed and scanned but the lab gave me the wrong CD and now they are closed for a week...

Then there was another Kodak Ektar 100, this time exposed @50 which seems like a good idea...
This is actually another flash photo taken in a club - you don't see many Leica Ms there! 😀

And here is another one from the same film:

Next was a Fuji S-400:

Then a Kodak FC 400:
I think the scanner missed the frame a bit here...

And finally we have a Kodak BW400CN. Again with flash.

Most photos have no post processing and non are cropped.

For the future I have decided to develop my own b&w films again and to look for a scanning solution other than a Fuji Frontier Minilab.

Thanks for looking!
Michael

wow. looks like you've been busy, considering how little time its been from Christmas !
after few months of photo lab scanners, I decided buy Nikon Coolscan V ED, and scanner program Vuescan. it sometimes needs little help of framing the slide, but is very flexible and easy to use.

Good start with the M2. As for switching to the 35f2 Biogon from the Summaron 35f2.8 - shoot some more before you do, The Summaron 35f2.8 is a great little lens and it truly fits the M2. The 1 stop loss of speed is not a big deal with modern films. They are amazingly flexible - particularly if you start souping your own. I like the Biogon 35f2 - but I find it a bit of a handful to drag around and I usually stick a smaller lens on the M2 ( consider the Nokton 35f1.4 if you need the speed - or the 40 f1.4 - both are very good performers and the M2 is still small and nimble.

I love the variety in your photography... all from a humble M2 🙂

Keep them coming!!!

Also... what's a Summaron 50/2 ??? - I have never come across one. Did you mean Summicron?

Hello ,

thanks for the comments.
Some more of my Leica shots can be seen here.
I still have 5 b&w films to be developed.

Hi HungHang, of course your right, that should read
Summicron 50/2 - it arrived today.

Thanks Tom for the good advice again. It inspired me to get
a Summicron-c 🙂

Best regards
Michael

Hi Wuddy,
you two seem to get along very well, you and your M2. Apart from the club shot that has artificial lighting anyway, I'm not really a friend of using flash with any M. Especially the 1st shot of Beatrice is a proof why. Enjoy using your new toy.
