First results from Jupiter 3 & 11

Finally I had a chance to use my Zorki with the Jupiter 3 and 11. I used Kodak 400 UC film, since the weather was not very bright and I wanted to make some shots in churches and other low-light-places. I have to say I am very pleased with the Jupiter 3, looks like I got a working one. The images are very sharp, contrast is high. Using the lens wide open the contrast gets a bit lower, but thats nothing unexpected. I hope I can do some "serious lens testing" with this one in the near future 🙂
The image-quality of the J-11 did surpise me. Very sharp, good contrast, but I definitly need a hood for this one! And I need it now! 😛

Here a some shots I did. Perhaps the next pictures won't even be inclined... (is this correct? For pictures to be inclined? As long as you know what I mean...)

You can correct for this perspective distortion (keystone), in Photoshop. I do it all the time. You can also rotate to level horizons.

Very nice. You have gotten a pair of lens worth keeping and using. Nice colors, nice contrast and sharpness. Can't ask for more than that!

Some great shots there and I don't see them hurt any by perspective. IMHO, the clock tower is an impressive image as is. Enjoy the lenses!

One thing you won't be short of subject material in Munich, Architecture, "street life" in Sendling? Park life in the English Garden. you are spoiled for choice!! 😉
One of my favourite four cities, the others are Vienna, Innsbruck and Prague. 🙂

Hello John,

yes, you're quite right, I do not have to search for a long time to find an interesting target for my Zorki. Esspecially because I am living in Sendling, and beeing a student at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University, the Englisch Garden is my second home during summerterms 😎

I am happy you like Munich. Prague is also one of my all-time favorits. Can't wait to get there with my new old stuff. If there were only less tourists... What do you think about Budapest?

If I may chime in... If you like street shots of really interesting, "different" people (and have the guts to use your camera!) Budapest has some places for it. Like Moscow square early in the morning, lots of funky people, lots of interesting faces and characters. Or at some of the out-of-center subway stations like Kobanya, Ujpest... Also seventh and eight districts incl. the region of the Eastern train station ("Keleti Pu.") - but be careful don't overdo it, especially in the late evening/night period🙂
And there's soon the Pepsi Island festival, with a feeling of a big happy family, where plenty of good occasions should occur, and probably noone will mind if you recording their activity...

I have a nightmare about Sendling, I got drunk and ended up in a bar called Edelheiss,
I should have guessed from the name. (Truely Hot!) left in a great hurry!! 😉 Used to be a nice bar at the corner of Thalkirchner Str, called Kraft Art. You will love Budapest as well, like Prague and yet different, nice city. To avoid tourists recommend going out really early,in the morning. I know thats difficult for a student 😛

Speaking of the jupiter 3, what lens hoods do you use on it? I desperatly need one for mine.

einars, on my new sonnar 50/1.5 i am using a Jupiter-8 42mm slip-on hood I've bought from alex-photo. It's a round hood designed for the slower 50/2 lens, i hope it does not vignette with the 1.5 - i'm still at the first roll though, so i'll be back later with the results.

PS: it cost me 6 euro or such.

I saw a link on this forum a while ago for some generic vented hoods a guy on ebay was selling that were supposedly pretty good, anybody still got that link?
