I've never gotten my hands on Ilford, but BW400CN has been a favorite of mine for quite a while.. I've always found it to be a great balance of contrast and highlights as seen here...

Thanks Rich. I am scanning my first roll of Kodak BW400CN. The results are certainly different than XP2 Super. My scans do have a slight green cast and seem to be higher contrast. My preference is XP2 if this indicative of the BW400CN, but I will have to shoot a few more rolls.

I've gotten mixed results from XP2 Super 400, as a result of which I have since been sticking with Kodak's BW400CN and their cheapo B&W400 (also C-41). Here are a few of my XP2 shots (lab scanned) that aren't particularly objectionable to me:

I share your thoughts on Kodak's BW400CN as I just finished roll 2 and 3 of that film and so far the results are not, in my opinion, nearly as pleasing as the XP2 Super.

I have been shooting mainly T-Max so that I can develop and scan films myself. No matter how much I clean the negatives I still have to remove blemishes in Photoshop.
I flew to England during the scare about liquids on flights and took some XP2 as I thought that I might have to get them developed in England to avoid the film being put in the hold on the way back. I'm very happy with the results (see http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1784). In particular, when scanning I can use ICE and the resulting scans are very clean.
I will continue to use T-Max, but I have got 10 rolls of Kodak BW400CN that I will use when I plan to get the films developed by a local lab.

Your pictures are selling the XP2!! But as I see your BW400 pictures, I guess you can sell us any film you want. Anyway, after seeing your XP2 results, I looked for an XP2 roll, but I ended up with a BW400 ... I'll post in a few weeks my first results ures with that film.
