Hi all, this is my first post on RFF. I've been lurking here for a few weeks now but haven't had reason to post, until now.
I just had an imacon scan done on this image. It was the first roll of film I ever developed myself, and the first shots I'd ever taken with the Mamiya 7II, which is my first rangefinder. A lot of firsts here!
Anyway, I got the camera for landscapes, but sometimes I like to try my hand at street photography although I feel a little out of my element doing it. I somehow feel naked without a set of carbon fiber legs on my back. I was fairly pleased with how this shot came out, so I'd like a (gentle) critique.
Thanks all.
btw, this is ilford hp5, taken with the 80mm f/4

Ah thank you for posting it!...how did you get it to display properly, if you don't mind my asking?

First, welcome to the forum and keep posting your photos.
I think this is a very good street shot, well composed, exposure well done with nice contrast, good shadow play, and moment with the subjects expression and upward glance.
Makes me want to load up my 7II with some HP5 and hit the streets.

I love the way the man is standing out of the shadow and looking into the source of light.

Not normally a street photo kind of guy, but I like this shot.

Maybe because it also looks like a portrait?!
Great capture!

Actually, that can break later on (flickr does image replacement if you modify an image).
Best way:
1. Go to the picture in flickr
2. Click on the "share this" menu item
3. Click on Grab the HTML/BBCode
4. Select image size
5. Click BBCode
6. Copy the resulting code
7. Paste into message.
