Finally developed my own b&w for the first time yesterday! Turned out pretty well considering I didn't really know what I was doing.
The gory details: HP5+ at 800 in an Olympus XA. Microphen 1+1 for 15 minutes at 20c, tap water stop, Ilford rapid fixer for 5 minutes, wash, and a swim in distilled with a dash of Photoflo to finish up. Paterson universal tank and reel.
I did 5 rolls of 35mm yesterday and only 2 frames are crap-ola; I think the film kinked going on the reel.
Started the day with the hope of doing my 120 but I could not get the bloody film on the reel. Pure comedy! After hours of trying (yup! HOURS)- and quite strong feelings of frustration, failure, and a sense of dismay that I have not felt since childhood, I switched to 35mm. Went on the reel without a hitch. Funny thing is I practiced putting 120 on the reel for quite awhile before and could do it quite well. Didn't practice with 35mm at all.
Might look into getting a Hewes reel or something for the 120...
Should add I scanned these on a V700...
