Joe ... in those images you've posted there is a stray fleck of light in each one. In the top image it's to the right of your left wrist and in the bottom one it's placed similarly horizontally but sightly different vertically ... which I assume is from a crop! In the lower image it's on the bottom right edge of the sub woofer!

Nothing like a bit of optomism Rob but Joe has just bought this camera and if there is a sensor problem he needs to address it with the seller ... quickly.
Cropped and enlarged from each image it doesn't look great to me!
I might add that these two points are exactly the same distance in from the right side of the frame.

Looks like a thug to me ... obviously why we're all terrified of him ... not! 😛
Sensor dust looks very different and you don't get any real indication of it at short distances and at wide apertures.

looks like a dead/hot pixel... too bad it's so noticeable but nothing a clone tool in PS can't fix...

It would seem to be ... but if I'd just paid fifteen hundred odd dollars for an RD-1 from a professional seller I'd want it fixed, another camera, or my money back!
I couldn't live with this!

Looks like a hot pixel to me too. Are they common with the RD-1s?
It can be easily fixed in post processing, but it is a minor shame that it is there. Better one than two or three or four though 🙂

There is such a thing as dead pixel mapping. I don't know exactly what happens, but I guess the white point is replaced by an average from surrounding pixels.
Like Keith stated, not what you should expect from a pro seller.

You can automatically map out the pixel with the firmware on the R-D1s. It's in the manual.
It takes about 2 minutes. Nothing to panic about. There's nothing wrong with the sensor.
