Your photos are all very nice but, all of your photos are of a distance away from the subject they work but I would also want to see some closer more intimate photos, everything is a process and takes time, I am not trying to rain on your parade just saying you have the talent for more.

Thanks for the honest words. I have no parade, only areas to improve. I agree with you in that getting up close is part of what I need to work on. I've done it here and there, but I just don't find the pictures 'work', or are to my liking;

3.
Its most likely fear. I could do with shooting much more often then I do. which is currently, not at all.

Looking at the images, to me it is obvious how you can improve both your photos and your photo taking experience: get a 50mm lens. None of the photos you have showed (perhaps the exception being the people in front of the cathedral) are framed tightly enough, so a longer lens could have only made them better. You will also discover how good a 0.85x VF is with the 50mm.

The best camera is one that still works!
I actually find the framing of the 35mm lens perfect for the subject matter as the OP saw it and photographed it. I'm not convinced that a 50mm would offer any improvement here!
Those last three posted images are also very good to my eye ... the way each subject is placed in a very inclusive environment really works for me.

Using a 50mm lens will likely improve my experience, that I agree with. I cannot say I agree with the shots shown not being tight enough, they are not really the typical 'street' shots done with a leica & 35mm but I feel that I would lose the surroundings which are vital for the feel of the images. Other then 2&3 from the 2nd set, I agree with Keith in that I don't see how tighter framing would improve, could you expand on how and why increased tightness could improve my captures?

i really like the framing of your your shots thats what gives them strength in my opinion, especially image number 2 in both sets. They aren't as you say typical street images but thats a good thing.
