so the lens is easily as sharp as the zm 35/2 and is a bit more contrasty.
this was the first batch i worked on (ps) on the new mac and an lcd screen.
also, this was elements 6 and not my trusty copy of ps7.

reminds me tonally of a modern elmar 50, joe. i have a canon 35/2.8 and i think the zeiss is quite its opposite, contrast-wise. nice blacks!

I like them all, particularly 2 and 5. Do you find the lens as contrasty as the CV 35/2.5? It's been a long time since I owned one of those, but these shots remind me of my own photos with the CV. Thanks for posting these, I've been looking out for them!

Joe, in your opinion do you consider the higher contrast of the 2.8 to be something that the 2.0 was lacking?

i can't say just yet, not from one roll of film. but i can say the scans were not pumped up (increase of contrast in photoshop) as much as i usually do.

Very nice shots, Joe. I like the 'Roma Tomatoes/girl-bokeh' shot the best, though. That would a challenging light to nail and I appreciate the result.

Which film? Are you still using the HP5 or something else?

The contrast on the 35f2.8 is diefferent from the one on the 35f2 Biogon. It seems to handle mid range tones a bit different (not better or worse). It is a sweet rendering lens and damned sharp.

Nice pics - I like the one with the guy shooting a light out of his eye. Good composition/catch. From what I see so far it looks similar to Skopar, but smoother. But would like to see more. Maybe some colour if you get a chance? But so far these are the most interesting pics from this lens I have seen as of yet. Good job!

Interesting rendering, seems to have a lot of contrast without completely crushing the mid level grays sort of the way the cv 35 pII renders but this lens looks to add more dimension to the details. Looks like a good lens to me.

Ps. Xp2 is not the lazy mans film, it takes a lot of understanding of its characteristics to get really good results with since its so sensitive to small changes in shooting style.
