I'm a little lost in my search for a flash unit for my Mamiya Universal Camera. The cameral has the shoe on the handle but I'm just at a loss in trying to find info on what kind of flash it takes. Can anyone help?
Thanks

Any flash that has a separate sync cable [as well as /or instead of hotshoe] that you plug into the socket on the lens barrel [just ilke your 195 make sure is set to x sync] I'd suggest a vivitar 283 or 285.gabefredrick said:I'm a little lost in my search for a flash unit for my Mamiya Universal Camera. I wish I could nail the *******s that stole my universal outfit [65, 100, 150lenses , 6x7, 6x9 and pola backs] I bet they sold it for flumpence.

Thanks. That sounds like a sweet set up. Most likely pinched by someone who couldn't appreciate the gear, but just wanted the cash. Whoever it was will be reincarnated as a toilet seat.

I use the Metz MZ-54 and sync cable- works well, though the cables seem rather expensive for things that are really un-reliable. I usually use the flash on the grip socket, but truthfully, it can go on the top as well, and just as easily. I rarely dig out the finders for the various lenses- there's just too much to track with that camera.
Sad to hear about the theft. Of all my cameras, it's the only set that haven't suffered from my GAS. I've all the lenses except the ones I don't care for (the 100 f/3.5 and 90mm) and lots of backs, finders, accessories, &c. It's worth coveting.
