Flash for mamiya 7

Hi, I need some help finding the right flash to use with a Mamiya 7II. Mamiya offers no clues on their web site and a quick search of previous posts here was not that helpful. Are there third party flashes I can use or if not, is there a flash specifically made for the mamiya 7?

IIRC Metz flashes w/ the proper adapter work with the mamiya system. I don't know whether the mamiya 7 has ttl metering, but if it does, surely metz is the place to look. (they've got it for my mamiya 645)

If you don't have TTL metering capabilities, then I suppose you're looking for a non dedicated flash, something like the vivitar 285 would work then.

The Vivitar 285 Series works very well for me on my Mamiya 6. The 7II works the same way.

i use both the vivtar 285HV (do not use the 285 or 283 as damage will result) as well as the Nikon Sb-28 and both are excellent.

any non dedicated flash will work just fine, you have to set it manually though.

Does the Mamiya 7II not allow connection to the lens directly where there is only a question of closing contacts, or does it have a dedicated hot shoe you have to use?

Just one more reason to love my Super Press 23 I guess. 😛

The M7 (and I believe the 7ii had no chanes made in this department) has a standard hot shoe and a sync cord socket for off camera flash. My old Sunpack and National guns work fine on it.
