Can anyone recommend a flash for my SP? I would prefer something small and affordable.
Thanks!

The flash type really depends what you are going to use it for. But you are probably going to use it indoors and not studio work. So any small or medium flash will work. I don't know much about your camera but if it has no hotshoe then find a flash with a PC cord. I would for casual indoor shots get one with an auto setting or two. This will give you a f/stop to select (and put that f/stop on the lens) and then put the shutter on any speed below the fastest synch speed. Sometimes you will be able to pick up some ambient light with speeds down to 1/4 of second as the flash freezes the subject and you don't care too much about background movement. Now you just walk around the room focus and shoot.
These focal plane shutter cameras are fine indoors with flash, but the slow synch speed makes them very difficult outdoors; even with fill flash.
One thing to remember is to check that the ISO is set on the flash so you use the correct f/stop. If you want to do some fill flash I'll go over it with you.

That's what I always do, I LOVE shooting in low light with Tri-X at 3200... but there are rare occasions where I would like a flash.

My M5s need red dots!
Anything with a PC cord long enough should do. And if I were to use flash, I'd "drag" it (use a slower shutterspeed).

Sunpak 1600 or an old Vivitar 252/253 would be my choice.

The SB-30 can take a pc cord? I don't recall having seen a PC connection in the flash at all.
Time to dig mine up. It used to be always attached to my F100. Thanks for posting the photograph!

The dingus the flash is mounted on is an adapter. Hot shoe on top and PC cord.
Inexpensive too.
