sorry, the question was directed at the op.

i'm working towards getting folks to think more carefully about where they post so i don't have to move them.

not a big deal but a deal, ntl.

the thing about putting threads in the 'correct'section is that it makes life easier, later on, for folks looking for info.

Depending on the age of the Vivitar 283: keep it away from Digital Cameras, no matter what optics are on them!

The Vivitar 283 has a series of fresnel lenses that fit over the flash head using a clip on adapter. Serves the same function as the zoom head on the 285. You can confine the beam for a 135mm lens, for a 35mm full-frame camera.

I use my Vivitar 283 to stress test electronics.

There was also some problem of a voltage mis-match between newer camera bodies and older flashes. Maybe a red herring, but worth checking into.

Does the T-90 use Canon's current EOS EF lenses? (Optics talk joe) If not, the older Canon FD mount lenses WILL NOT focus at infinity on the new EOS mount bodies. I know. I have several very nice FD lenses that I can't use on my 3 EOS bodies. Good news: Nikkor, Olympus, Pentax, etc. lenses CAN be adapted to the EOS bodies.
