For wedding receptions or indoors where more light is needed - the "A" mode (auto thyristor/auto mode) on the SB-900 suits me just fine on my M7 and on the E-P2.

SB800 on the D300 and 700.

Onboard flash just for contre jour fill on the Panasonics. And thanks to those who clued me in that the rectangular plastic 40mm Voigtlander OVF will block the pop up flash on the GF1 but the round metal 35mm one will not. I use the OVF about 70% of the time and use fill flash about 10% of that.

Vivitar HV285 and 283. The strobist.com concept intrigues me, though the learning is slower with an M3 (or a Rollei) than with a digital SLR. The lessons still have done my flash photography a world of good. I enjoy it as a part of my photography.

Yes, sometimes one or several bare bulb Vivitar 283s (Armato type) off camera or "strobe on a rope".

Used to be Vivitar 192/252 years back. Then several (as many as five) Vivitar 283s. Now I'm going back to a 192/252 set but having troubles with the way digital P&S sync with a slave. Always off camera.

Flash needs to be used right, takes a bit of trial and error. It's a critical a tool as a good lens or fast film.

I like the snap with on camera flash! People get all bent out of shape about the shadows, but nobody sees them but us. I use it direct, but only with digital. I like the control over color. Available light I like film, holidays are impossible to shoot available light in my family, though, gotta have the flash for that, everyone's moving and it's 1.4 at 1/15th at 800. I have a metz 40mz and a 54 mz...

Yes, when and where deemed necessary.

With my RFs: Koniica HX-18, Nikon SB-20, Metz 34 CS-2 (built-in slave-flash function on the Metz comes in handy).

With my OM-2n: Olympus T32 (natch).
