While I think that Vuescan offers more to someone who's willing to put the time and effort into it for a far cheaper price I'd say stick with what works for you. I always tell people to trial it but not to buy it. I figure if it fits the need that decision will be made for them, and if it doesn't then they don't buy something that they don't need.
Ummm,
Well, I put the time in for scans... The fact that Vuescan is CHEAP makes it popular, not necessarily better.
I also fine Epson Scan has adequate controls (Histogram, (Separate RBG if needed for color) Levels, Saturation, Brightness, Contrast, And Color Balance).
Now maybe the Trial Vuescan is not the Pro Version, and I just found it with not enough power IMO. Maybe I just didn't like the over simplified workflow. I prefer a bit more manual control. It may have it, I can't remember, and, I don't think I can try it again... unless it is a unlimited demo , and not a 30 day trail.
actually, I prefer Epson Scan because it automatically finds all the negatives in the pre-scan, and frames them. so there is no need to manually frame each negative for the final scan.
