A very nice RFF'er just sent me a PM. Hopefully "masked" here's his message and my response:

I'll just ask you not to disappear into the aether completly. The whole death-of-film thing has to be looked at as just another chevy/ford, canon/nikon, etc kind of thing. If you enjoy playing that game, then it's fun but noone has ever changed anyones mind in those "discussions" :angel: and won't in this one either. Just let that bit be and continue to enjoy the rest of this place. One of the things that this place needs is it's diversity and your presense is as important to that as anyones.

Thanks for the PM - I'm not "leaving" altogether - at least not yet. But this is getting real boring - every couple of days Bill M. has to stir the pot with the film is dead stuff.

I want to check out APUG. And guess what, so does Jorge. I just gave APUG an extra $24 for an annual subscriber level of membership.

That's just what Jorge wants to do. He starts by "restricting" classified ad readership to members. Guess what the next step is going to be?

Where was B.M. when we were acting collectively to raise funds to present our dear moderator with a token of appreciation?

Agree with FrankS though it's not my place to say so. You know, if you think about it, it's really not that hard to just ignore what you don't like (so long as it doesn't affect you). I mean people can say lots of things but none of that really affects any of us. After a while, you can get used to anything.

I hope I sound like I think I do. All I'm saying is, take it easy!

i have not asked frank for a list of names and i have made a point of not thanking any individual. my thank you was in a public post.
i appreciate those who were part of that but i won't make it a source of discomfort for anyone.

bill and i have a relationship other than just this forum. i have a few people that i have met or talked to on the phone or just email seperate from here, even though we 'met' here.
i don't advertise it. why would i?

this once i will say that i have 2 lenses that belong to bill, on loan. i wanted to check then out without having to buy, & then sell them if i didn't need/like them. bill sent them free, no strings attached and for as long as i wanted to use them.
that's trust and friendship at work.

and bill, i understand you are mad and i understand that you use your command of language as a tool & weapon, but i hope i don't see that kind of anger here again.

maybe you 2 need to avoid each other or kiss and make up or just figure out a way to co-exist here.
i don't want either of you to leave but i would love if you both could lower the intensity level some.

My comments weren't directed at you. It was directed at this thread whole thread and the 'vibe' in general of the forum as of late. It just seems like theres a lot of drama lately, and its much ado about nothing. For example, after Joe's gift fund was completed, there were those people that felt it was "wrong" in some way. And then there was that whole debacle over whether or not membership should be a requirement to view the classifieds. I didn't bother to read any of that because... its not important! I think everyone needs to take a step back and relax.
