someone begins to follow you…
you head over to their account to check them out…
they 'have no images available' for you to see…

i block them!

what do you do?

Nothing. As far as I'm concerned they're no different than a random viewer.

"Follower" in flickr just means "bookmarking" somebody`s photo stream so I don`t care if somebody who starts "following" me posts photos in his own galleries. However, if a new follower starts posting advertisements or links to his business web-pages I immediately block them.

it might be that:
- they only use Flickr to post private family pictures and don't want the whole Flickerverse to see them (and possibly stalk their children)
- they don't feel confident enough about their own photographic ability to share their pictures yet, and are following people whose work they admire so they can learn

So, it wouldn't bother me.

I don't reciprocate on the 'followship', or respond to comments they leave on my photos. It's possible they just started up an account to leave an innocent comment on one of my shots, but you never really know and lately I'm not inclined to broaden my social circle.

Had RSS feeds of blogs I like
But of course, I don't tell them I'm subscribing to their updates, unlike Flickr

And for stealing, unless they're into a specific style, Search is much better tool than following.

I don't block them.
All the photos they can see is public anyway.
I my Flickr account I only have private or public pictures.

Haven't had to block anyone yet. Most of my Follow requests are from folks I know on forums like RFF. For the few strangers, I'll check out their Photostream, and see if I'm interested in their stuff. Most times, it's better than mine!

That, and how productive they are.

Unfollowed users because they uploaded pictures so often, they flooded my timeline even in the new Flickr homepage that only show a few latest upload from each users.

To clarify my earlier post. If someone adds one of my photos as a favorite, or starts following me, I'll check out their photos.

If they have nice photos that I'd be interested seeing regularly, I'll follow them.

If they have photos, but their not really my bag, I just move on with my day.

If they have nothing to share, but are brand new, I give them the benefit of the doubt and move on.

If they seem weird, or seem like their building a collection of other peoples photos for some reason, without sharing anything, I block them...with the knowledge that they can still see my photos, but can no longer put them in their collections. (i.e. I have a couple "body paint" photos that aren't really all that special, that I took for a friend that was studying SFX makeup. Those tend to get "Faved" by people that seem to not own a camera.)

Honestly, I get so few Favorites or Followers as to not really matter most of the time anyway.

I think that this is a reasonable interpretation....
