Flickr sees it our way!

I had to click the "Edit" option on my photostream to revert back to the older Flickr, which is only temporary and has to be done everytime.

The edit button has been there since Flickr changed but too many people were complaining to check it out..

I don't use Flikr but I do use photobucket. I only occasionally upload photos and everytime I do it seems they have changed something again. I think this is one of the things I find so frustrating with digital. Things can't stay one way very long. Everybody has to fiddle around and change things all the time. It would be one thing if the things they changed were important...but they aren't! The changes are just silly things that worked just fine before and don't need to be changed.

Generally with digital and Web things, everyone just mimics what others are doing.

If you visit news sites, for examples, the popup ad has returned in a big way.

Then there are those links at the bottom of the story that go to entertainment/celebrity/weird news. Most news sites have them.

The latest annoyance is the promo for a sometimes-related article that flows in from the lower right corner of the screen when you reach the bottom of the article.

So, it's no surprise that others want to take the Facebook approacch.

Don't worry. Something else will come along soon enough, and the industry will shift to that approach, which guarantees to be just as annoying.

I think it's known as best practices, rather than coming up with an original idea that is logical and doesn't irk your customer.

Do I need to opt in somewhere? Flickr still looks the same to me. 😱

Same here. When I click on my photostream, I still see everything in "tile view." I've been aware of the Edit button, but that doesn't get you back to the "old Flickr," at least not for me, where photos appeared individually and in sequence on my Flickr page.

Am I missing something here?

Update: According to this link here ... https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157645000450855/ ... Flickr IS changing the look back to something much closer to the old look, but the changes have not been rolled out to all members. Instead, some members were randomly "opted in" to the new/old look to get their reactions/feedback. I'm not one of those randomly selected, so my photostream page hasn't changed (yet). However, the new/old display looks much better than the "new Flickr" that many of us hated.

Winner takes all mentality.
If you don't jump in quickly, they will drain your blood and leave you to die. Hey, it's just another loser who failed to stay up to date in the competitive landscape.
*kicks the fallen man*

Then, there's the thing that often comes up in film/digital debate. The users now want new toys. If those companies can't make something (buyers thought is) new, then their money will fly somewhere else.
So, change for the sake of keeping it new, not neccesarily to fix a problem.

Flickr still looks the same over here, but I remember seeing comments and info in the bottom when using smaller screen. Just a layout that adapts with your screen size.

nothing can be worse than the disaster they have now.

I have an i5, 8 gigs of high end ram and a 50Mb/S internet connection and I can't get their site to not go slower than I could ever have imagined a site going in any browser, whether it's the newest FF, Opera or Chrome.

I can play Bioshock Infinite on ultra but I can't load flickr. What a world this is.

It's a bit of an improvement, but it still doesn't solve the infinite scroll/loading problem, which to me at least is a much bigger problem than the looks of the "new" flickr.

what bugs me the most is how they blow up photos to fill the screen even if they're low resolution. they look awful and i can't figure out if there's a way to turn off this "feature."

There is now a larger space to see smaller pictures. Yeah, that's a real improvement. And the screen runs off the right side of my monitor now.

I wish they would create two section of the site. One for those of us who could care less about social media, and another for the ones who like to give out useless "awards", and drool over panoramic photos.

Is there any other alternative to that? 🙂

Btw, by the time you get used to something, they change it to something else. No complaints though, now it looks better.
