I've had a Flickr account for a while but haven't used it much. But I have been putting some stuff there.
Recently, I was poking around the site and noticed the link to QOOP. Which is an online printing company. And they have a very easy to use book printing deal. Nothing much unusual about that but one of their standard sizes is 3.75" x 2.5". Just about the size of a business card. And for 20 pages, they are pretty cheap. 20 pages is the minimum. So I picked out some of my photos and bought 4 of the books(again, that's the minmum). less than $20 to my door in about a week.
These things are very cool! And I'll be getting some more. I wasn't sure how they would turn out but the printing is pretty good. A couple of things about them: you can't edit the photos beyond picking which ones from your Flickr account. Vertical photos don't work especially well--they are tiny. Horizontals are rather bigger. And I should make an jpeg of contact info to upload to my Flickr page so that I can include that next time. Because I'm going to be selling a print or trhee from giving the four of these mini-books away. 😀
One of the things I thought about when I got these is that I'll be out and about and someone will ask me, "Hey! What are you doing?" and I thought these are small enough to carry in my bag and simply answer with one of these books. Sort of, "I'm a photographer, here's what I do."
Just something cool to do with my photos.
