I shot a family wedding reception function this weekend and am seeing odd pixels in my image files, red, blue, and some green not in all of the frames but every so often for a few frames. I've called and talked with the techs at Leica in New Jersey where I've emailed them a handful of the files for their review.

Has anyone here experienced this type of thing in your images through your M8? I'm frankly quite disappointed with this even happening.

welcome to the world of digital imaging. you found yourself some stuck pixels. this happens all the time for various reasons with various electronics. I had about a dozen of stuck pixels on my laptop display a week ago and had to run a trippy little flash file (it cycles through all the colors rapidly to unstick pixels) for a few hours.

usually all it takes is some cycling through various colors to unstick a pixel, and it sounds like your files displayed that by not showing up in every frame.

Your best bet to get rid of these completely is to shoot in raw and use a program like lightroom, as they map out dead, hot, and stuck pixels pretty well upon import.

also, if you wanna post some pictures of the culprit pixels, it could help diagnose the issue, as I could be completely wrong since all i'm going on is a verbal description.

I've seen it happen with my M8 when it was a week old, only if a certain lens was fitted did it display a hot pixel when zoomed in three clicks on the rear display.

It wasn't visible in the file once I had copied it to the hard drive and opened it in CameraRaw 2.4 (the top ACR version my Photoshop CS supports).

I left the camera without a battery for 48 hours. Pixel was gone after that.

Lightroom or Aperture is a good remedy.

That sounds interesting, any downloadlink to share, please?
