FM2n... should I?

My Nikon collection does not include a FM2n. I like that it's functional without a battery. Any other reasons to have one?

I love this camera. So straightforward and intuitive to use, and quite durable. A no-brainer.

The FM2n does X-sync at 1/250 sec vs 1/125, and the focusing screens are interchangeable with about a dozen useful options (I was always a particular fan of using the simple E-screen). It's a very nice upgrade over the original FM, and one of my favorite shooters for 20+ years.

The fast shutter speeds are handy. The downside is the shutter is pretty noisy. Mine was the loudest 35mm SLR I have ever owned.

I've wanted one too, had one once. Let it go.
I don't shoot film now but the desire to have a mechanical Nikon still haunts me.

I bought one once for the lens it had attached, a 1.2 50mm Nikkor. I still have the lens but traded the camera away for, of all things, a grip to put on my M3. Silly me.

There's been a chrome bodied one with new light seals installed on the local C-list for a couple of weeks now. $300 but I've been able to resist so far. I'm really holding out hard for a black body to go with my black FE that I bought new oh so long ago.

This one is black with new foam and seals, plus two lenses. It was too good of a deal to pass up. Now to sell my extra F3.
