I took my M6 to the ski resort today and saw that the focusing alignment was acting strange. I have the 50mm ZM lens on it.
@ 15feet it seems ok and @ infinity it looked ok too, but when the infinity went over 40-60 feet and longer it seemed out of alignment and everything within the focusing patch got fuzzy.

Is this normal or do I need to get it aligned?

Thanx.

I had the same problem with my M6. Take your camera out at night and point it towards the moon or a star and check the vertical/horizontal alignment. I adjusted mine myself within a few minutes.

If it is the horizontal alignment, you need to adjust a screw that sits on the top of the lens attachment plate. I used a small screwdriver from an eyeglass kit. If it is the vertical adjustment you have to remove the red Leica dot and use a special tool to adjust. My M6 just needed the horizontal alignment. I hope this helps.
