Hi, I have just spent two days stripping and cleaning a Helios 44M-4 that I recently got from the bay! Seller said the focus ring was a bit loose. When I tried to focus it, the front section helicoil just fell out. Anyhow I stripped it down and cleaned the helicoils but had hell of a job trying to figure out how they all went back in and lined up with the guides. I finally managed to put it all back together and everything works a treat, however the distance scale is off slightly. At its closest focus distance 0.5m it seems spot on but at infinity the scale shows between 4 & 10m, mind you the movement to then get the infinity mark to the stop is only 7mm . Is worth bothering faffing about with the helicals to try to rectify this. The screws by the way for the focus collar are actually inside the outer helical and impossible to get to without a complete strip down. Any ideas suggestions welcome.
