An Undesirable
I recently bought a Canon 50mm 1.2 and have been using it with my M8, at first I thought that the lens was simply very soft or that my hands were even shakier than I had assumed!
However, having tested the two together using a tripod and the self timer with some very careful focusing I've found that the focus seems to be out by several inches. The lens seems to actually focus on a point some 8 inches beyond the intended point of focus.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with this combination? I have heard that some lenses may need to be calibrated to be used with the M8 or 'shimmed.' Does this sound like a typical example or a problem with the lens itself?
Does anyone know of a decent place in the UK that could perform the necessary calibration? What potential effect this could have on using the M8 with other lenses or the 1.2 with other cameras? Plus, what sort of cost we may be talking about?
Sorry for all the questions!
Many Thanks
