About 3 years ago, my focus tab broke off in 2 peices from my 35mm Summicron Version 4. The tab is a flimsy piece of plastic (This is the only thing I hate about the design). I glued the 2 broken pieces to the lens and it held and looked fine until now when half of it fell off. I cannot find the piece, hence I need a replacement. I have no problem with taking the lens apart and putting a new one in. I actually adjusted the screw once from the inside to tighten the tab and lubed the lens as well.
My feeling is can I get a higher quality aftermarket metal replacement instead, and can it screw in from the outside. Whoever decided to screw it in from inside the focus mount was nuts! In fact, It should have been cast in solid metal with the mount, not a flimsy piece of plastic held on from the inside with a small screw.
So what are my options and where can I get a part? I see none on Ebay.
