No meter is going to read a streelight in a dark area and give you the correct exposure, even matrix metering will not give ou that. You still have to think about what the meter is seeing.
Focusing in darkness: Konica AF? Canon? Bessa R?

The meter in the Hexar AF is almost perfect, but there are some things you really need to know to get the most out of it. And the manual is not its strongest point.
In P and A mode, the metered area is a 15 degrees wide rectangle. When in M mode, the area is more like a 4 degree wide square. These metered areas are centered around the cross hair when at infinity. But if you point to something close, you have to be aware that the cross hair doesn't move -although the top and left framelines do-, and that you need to compensate for parallax.

yep, i knew that for the AF, Peter, but never thought that the metering would work the same. Of course they are both fixed so they should behave the same!
Of course meters are not perfect. Somehow i never had this problem with the yashica gsn, that was my point.
