Hi,
I just bought an M6 TTL 0.58, which I am very happy about. A step up from the old M4P.
Unfortunately my old Summicron 50mm (1969) stops focusing under 1 meter. From the closest 0.7m to 1m nothing moves in the rangefinder and it feels like the lens isn't catching in the camera somehow. However it stills works fine on the M4P.
Does anyone know what this could mean?
kind regards,
Max

Also, My 35 Biogon focuses down to 0.7 meter on both the M6 and the M4P.
Help?

It's possible that there's a mis-alignment of the cameras focusing lever that causes it to be held in place by the lens helicals in the close focusing range on the Summicron.
Just a thought.

Can it be fixed? Is it a lenghty thing?

I know it can, I've been focusing close for years. Inf act just yesterday on the M4P.

It might be that some part of the light baffle inside the M6TTL (cover for the meter cell ?) prevents the cam of the lens from rotating closer than 1m. I had a similar problem with my M6TTL and a DR Summicron, which worked perfect on my other cameras.

So that might just be the way it is then? No way to overcome it? That wouldn't be ideal...

There is something written about this problem at cameraquest.com As I remember it can be fixed, though.

I met a man once...
this is normal (for one of my lenses at least), the camera and lens decouple at 1 meter even though my lens focuses down to .7m

Gabor, where on Cameraquest? I can't find anything but I'm quite attached to my 50mm so I'd really like to get it fixed if possible.

I'd just contact DAG and see what his take on the matter is.

I found this on the cameraquest.com web-site:
"The 50/2 DR will probably work fine on the M6, but you must remember to mount and dismount the lens focused at infinity. When focused near it's closest regular focusing distance, the lens will be difficult to mount OR unmount. I have reports of the DR not functioning in close up range on a M6. I am frankly unsure if these reports are due to variations with the bodies and the DR, or are the result of user error. More research will till. It seems prudent to try a DR on your M6 before you buy it."
In my case (M6TTL + DR Summicron) I could only focus down to 1 meter then the cam was blocked by the light baffle inside the camera. As has been mentioned, better to ask Don at DAG about your specific problem.

This is exactly the problem. Don from DAG told me to look through the camera at B with the back door open and focus the lens, the cam only reaches the lens at 1m. So this can't be changed?
