Focusing through external viewfinder?

Hello!
I have just recieved my ZI with planar 50mm and biogon 25, I have also bought external viewfinder for the wide angle, but there seems that there is no focusing? I mean there is no rangefinder box thingie right? why do I need the viewfinder?

the little viewfinder attachment is so you can frame your photo you'll take, but to focus, refer to the numbers on the actual lens (scale focusing) or else, buy a Range Finder coldshoe accessory

Ash is right, except the extra rangefinder. Use the built in rangefinder in the camera for focusing and the external viewfinder for composing.
