I have been wanting to try more SFX shots but am usually overloaded with cams on the average day out.

I had planned particular use of my Isolette II for SFX IR(ish) shots as it is small enough to always be in my bag when out on a days walk.

Of course, sunny weather is needed, but when out to test it the sun stayed away until late in the day, so I shot a couple of test images anyway, partly to see what extra exposure I might need on it. Somewhere between 5 and 7 stops, I thought. I had glued a part of the Ilford SFX filter into a lens hood for this, it seems to have worked well.

This one at around f8, quite sharp looking on the original.

This is at f5.6, and 2 stops more than the picture above.
I like the softness of this image, note the more prominent grain on this one.

The Isolette looks as if it may be very capable as my SFX cam to go. (the cam in the bottom of the rucsack).

indeed, sfx loses a lot of speed with that filter, as it should since it's the least IR-ish of the films out there. it's truly extended red and not IR.

nice work. doesn't having the kludged hood make it less portable, though?

Ah! yes, less portable in the sense that the hood has to be slipped on, but this cam/film will probably always be used on a tripod, so portable in terms of carriage rather than set up.
I have tried some of the "true" IR films out there. They can certainly give an "Other Worldly" look to the images, but IMHO a little too OW for my taste. I like the extended red look of SFX.

It's worth a mention that the sky in the pics above had a lot of high mist so wasn't a good blue. If it were, it would have been rendered almost black.
