Well, I've been shooting more and also exercising the focus of my chrome 35 lux asph, and what do you know, it has smooth focus now! It'll probably even get smoother. When exercising it (usually when working on the computer), I put the rear cap on, held it as it would be oriented on the camera by the cap, and worked it through the range, and also arc-ed it through the range with short back and forth motions. Thanks for the advice! 😎

I don't know, lube distribution, break-in of the mechanics...when the 50 lux asph came out a fair amount of complaints were of the stiff focus.

They use more threads in the focusing mount than most lenses to ensure stability and precision in the helical motion. I think this is one of the reasons that the lenses occasionally take time to break in. Keep in mind that almost every old Canon rangefinder or vintage Leica lens has been used for decades, and has had time to break in. My experience with Voigtlander and ZI lenses has been that they are pretty good from the get go, but there is more play in the mounts. Anyway, YMMV.
