For all of us wanna be street photographers

there are some well-framed, well-timed shots in this collection, but most appear to have been shot with zoom lenses, leaving them flat-looking, as another poster remarked. one that seemed to have a spark of intimacy was the cat-wearing-a-turtlenecked-sweater photo.

My take...very much as above...some nice ones and a lot of not so nice ones. So I'd take the"This is where we might learn a thing or two about street photography" with a few spoonfuls of salt.

To each his own, but many of the photos on the list are worlds better than the current fad for wide angle shots of people's butts.

Not particularly impressive to me, a few nice ones here & there, though. (Here I had written 'to each his own', but Tunalegs already did that.)

Yah. I didn't want to say it, but, there it is. But, in their defense, i'm typically not moved by any 'contemporary' street photography. It all just looks like pictures of people who just happen to be outside. As if the photographer was from Mars and EVERYTHING is interesting to him. These pictures are better than that, but still just seem like 1980s photography textbook pictures.

I absolutely agree with the first bit of this. It seems to me that too many "street photographers" just point their camera of everything that comes within range and go "click". No thought as to whether the subject is interesting, no idea about composition or artistry and an absolute horror at the idea post processing. To each his own of course but I much prefer photos of the sort shown here.

Have to agree with the detractors. I found the photos bland.

Then again, I find most "street photography" bland. Dont get me wrong: When it's done well, it's great and respect to those who can pull if off (I'm certainly NOT one of those people) but these stock-y, overly processed shots are just as boring to me as the wide angle shots of a random crowd of people walking down a street.

I think there are some interesting images on show here, some not so interesting IMO, however 'street photography' would not be a label I'd apply to the majority of them.

I see from the previous replies that taste has alot to do with much of the comments made so far, as such I would suggest that its only fair that we bear in mind that the photographers have not opted to have their images included in this so-called '101 Awe Inspiring Examples Of Street Photography.' Some of these images may have been shot for a specific market; be it advertising, stock ...or even street 🙂 and to judge it solely on the fact that someone else has collated a wide variety of different photographers images into one 'show' strikes me as a little unfair.
