So I must be some kind of a wizard or something, my oldest selfmade CD-R is from 1994 and still readable.

On the other hand, I have lots of faded slides and brittle negatives from that time.
 
I have several hundred, and I haven't found a bad one yet.
 
Haven't had a CD-R fail yet, but I have had a couple of commercial CD-ROMs go bad.
 
I read that test, it was badly flawed. My ancient (1992) Kodak photo-CD's are still readable I have about 10 of them. Not that that helps much, the Kodak-scans from way back then are *#&&% !
