for the newbies

Thanks! As soon as I start taking and processing photos with that new Bessa, I'll scan and psot some to the forum so you all can see if I've got an "eye" yet!

This is one reason you are seeing some "photo essays" from me this weekend. I know that I am not producing a whole lot of great art with these shots, but by putting them in a discussion thread I can tell a little story and show a few snaps at the same time.

Thanks for info and suggestions. As new in the forum I am little confused to understand about galleries, album and member galleries. Does album means that if I have a few photo about a specific theme can I make a dedicated album about ? And a single photo where goes ? One more question, sorry to disturb, how can I create a link in a post to some of my pohotos ? Or gallery ? I look for info about this, but not able to find.
thanks for suggestion,
robert

Hello, and another newbie question.
When uploading a photo, is there a file size that is recomended, or will it be auto resized for posting the way it is done in Photobucket for example? I have not been able to find much info on this.

Thanks for any help !

To create a new album go to Gallery then > My Photo Gallery then > Create a New Album. You can create several albums if you wish. When you upload, you are given the choice of which album to place your photos in.

For a link from your posts, click on Quick Links at the top of this page and choose Edit Signature from the drop down menu. Write the Album name or whatever in the Text Box and link it to the address of your RFF album (using the little blue globe button). Your signature will show up on all of your posts.

600 to 800 pixels wide seems to work well.

Hope this helps a little. Welcome aboard guys. Enjoy. Share some pics!

There are several issues for newcomers on this thread:

1. Posting limits: There are already limits, 5 images/day for standard members, 20/day for premium members. As it happens, I can never get beyond 3 images/day without getting a a warning that I've exceeded my daily limit (image size mostly 50-70kB, rarely 100kb). Currently I'm being warned I've exceeded a limit of 9 images a day (last post 3 images 24 hours ago).

2. New members wanting to know how: there is an FAQ section. It might be a good idea to include uploading procedure there, and similar questions like those asked be some previous posters.

3. Suspected mass storage: On the forum home page there five random image links that are changed every time you go there. Frequently these are by members who have precisely 27572 images and 32006 comments. Is that some kind of absolute limit? Personally, I wouldn't want to use a forum for storage - my backup archive holds uncompressed fullsize images that I wouldn't want to have available for free access by the whole world. My forum images are compressed JPG that can only be further degraded if anyone decides to play with them.
