Forum Angst?

> Just got myself a wet seat

Good thing it was just rain. Years ago my Sister took her '69 Mustang with the 351 to Italy while in the Navy. She was driving some Sailors on the Autobahn and scared the Piss out of them.

She is smaller than I am, but here I held my camera over somebody elses head. That Cuba Libre she helds was number four or five that evening.

I believe in bracketing, booze and film 🙂

Prudent advice, Socke -- I'll remember to bracket 🙂. I was away for a long weekend and must have missed the tension on the forum...seems like the same old jovial place I've become accustomed to. At any rate, are we still drinking? It's 11:00 a.m. here, not necessarily too early to start celebrating Thursday.

Admit it, Brian, you were waiting for a post like mine to crack that horrible joke..... 😀 😀 😀

D'oh! I missed this thread before...and most of the tension as my life has been disgustingly hectic for mo real reason lately. If it has to be beer, I'll take a Kilkenny and toast you all, if spirits are allowed, I'll take some good, old rum.

Cheers to you all.

Tension? Haven't been by much the past week and I think I may have missed something (worth missing, from the sound of it?). But I never pass up on a free drink. 😉

maybe i need an additional moderator. I think the forum may have grown too big for 2 people only. Joe does a great job and I try my best. Maybe somone in a different time zone from Joe and I. Just a thought.

You da man Joe ! I will retire now 😀

On a side not ... For those of you who don't know and wonder about guide lines. A few rules which are at the top of the list.

Anyone who does not think Married with Children is the best TV show of all time will be banned.

Anyone who dislikes Al Bundy will be banned and tarred.

dont care about peg. However, Jefferson and Marcy are to be admired as well. If not your banned too. Come to think of it, I will ban younow for even considering anyone besides Al.

Anyone else notice the angst in the forum as of late? There seems to be tension in almost every post nowadays. I know a few people have come and gone, "carpet bombing" threads with reckless abandon, leaving everyone scratching their heads. {snip}
There have been wars in other forums and perhaps one or two of the trolls from those places have been trying their tricks over here.

One of the more sedate places - the German Leica forum - has become quite sad with all sorts of nastiness and people leaving and so on recently. Maybe one or two of them came here. I also stay out of the more edgy threads, if I'm around to see them that is. It seems to me we have a bunch of adults on this forum and childish behavior is occasionally tolerated (but not for long) but mostly ignored. I think that Joe does a terrific job, and I do sometimes marvel at his patience.

If I am offended, I don't read it or participate in that thread. If attacked, I generally don't respond because it only encourages that behavior. I don't have to prove myself to anyone nor does anyone have to prove themselves to me. I realize this is an international forum with many who speak or write English as a second language and sarcasism is not easily translated for them. I know that I don't understand German or Russian jokes at all. I have learned a lot and hope that I have contributed equally. Good humor to all, and in light of the problems around the world and lately in New Orleans, we can all help one another with some light hearted banter and good camera info. Thanks and my 2 cents!

Mines a pint of Old Specked Hen 😀

Life is too short to get too upset, if the blood preassure starts to rise, leave the thread and ponder another.

If you don't like someone or something, forget it, waste time on things that amuse you and make you happy, like using your favourite RF. Some bods have very stern views, others like constructive discussion, more like the humour. If I don't like the flavour of a certain thread I read a different one. I can always read it later.

Have fun and enjoy the fun crowd.... I'll get another pint of Old Specked Hen 😀 On the tab 😛

Cheers!

I am not much a fan of beer, but have been drinking a few of the ones that have been quite palatable and great thirst quenchers. I forgot the name of this Austrian beer which I just loved when I was in Vienna, and have ocassionally found here in the US.

Has anybody tried "Blue Moon"? It's interesting. Or Negra Modelo, now you're talking.

Alas, if I could only find some Jurancon (it's not a beer)...

Hmm, the only one I'm sure of that it is being exported is Gösser (Goesser - for non-Umlaut-spelling) - not bad, but nothing special either, like many Autrian beers (other common ones are Zipfer Urtyp, Schwechater ('bricklayers' brew' - because it is cheap and that profession drinks about half a case at least per day...), the Viennese local favorite Ottakringer, Stiegl from Salzburg, Puntigamer - cheap'n'nasty, Wieselburger (called 'snail poison' because housewifes use it for luring those slimy creatures away from their veggie gardens), and Fohrenburger).

The really good ones are those from small local breweries, sometimes a bit hard to find: Trumer Pils (the choice of posh restaurants...), Grieskirchner, Schremser, and those from my favorite Austrian brewery, Bierwerkstatt Weitra - the Weitra Bräu (a Czech style beer), and the Hademar (a beer made in a very old fashioned way, from organically grown Barley and hops, formetned in open wooden containers).

But Czech beers are my favorites, and also very popular in local bars - I had a Starobrno today, and another favorite is Velkopopovický Kozel.

Ooops, getting a bit carried away, I guess...
