Hi there!

A forum member in Germany/Munchen agreed to trade some of his leica stuff to my Mamiya 7 and 80 + 150 lenses. We had a gentleman agreement that if I send the cameras in Munhen (to a friend of mine there) he will go there for a local pickup.
We exchanged several emails photos etc and everything seemed smooth.
I sent the set in Munchen to my friend who kindly agreed to mediate this affair but the chap who asked for the set NEVER showed up etc. Never replied to my emails etc after a month. The deal is clearly dead to me, and I can of course ship the Mamiya 7 set elsewhere, so I just wasted shipping and some time. Been in worse things before, no problem with that.
Im just curious if theres a general agreement in this forum that we should live up to certain standards when dealing with other fellow forum members etc.
I decided not to bluntly say who the guy is waiting for your advice.
Thanks,
Liviu

There are no rules set in stone for this kind of things; but of course such behavior is not appreciated by anyone on RFF. There's a "User Feedback" thread in the classifieds forum, I suggest posting this there, including his/her RFF username to give a heads-up to other members. If you're sure of what you're saying of course - you say he never showed up, never replied to mails - did he post on RFF in the mean time? If yes, then I think it's only fair to warn other members. If no, a lot of things could have happened... and maybe there are no bad intentions.

Sure, just as there are such standards in life in general.

The problem is, lots of people don't live up to the agreement.

I also suggest to post the person's name in the feedback forum if you feel that you have waited a sufficiently long time to receive an email from him that might explain what happend in Germany. Is he still visiting the RFF? If so, send him a pm.

JVX has a point... check to ensure there is nothing out of order with the 'purchaser' sometimes people are away for up to 3 weeks at a time and not around email. Could be personal finances too. If you can see a date stamp on the purchasers profile which is later than your last email I'd try once more for an answer as to why he has avoided/ failed to repond.

Personally I'd be very glad I had forwarded that very valuable camera set to a friend and not the 'purchaser' you might be luckier than you realize.
