Hey there,
I'm on holiday in Israel and I took alook around the old camera shops. I found a lieca from 1933 but that's ot of my price range. I also found a lieca md 2 which has a dentin the back and does not wind but the rest of the body is in quite good condition. I'm wondering how much they are worth whether i could fix it up and for how much much it would cost to get repaired. Any info help or comments would be appreciated.
Regards,
max

Where is the dent? Does the back and bottom open?
I think would be worth a gamble for 100 euros. My read is that you can always resell it on EvilBay for 25% less.
I would reach out to Youxin Ye in Boston, MA, USA.
......He does not have a website; however, very quick in replying to email: wye7@yahoo.com........

basically the back has quite a big dent and it looks like the mechanism inside is bent inwards. I dont have much experience with the inside of cameras so im not sure whether this is something which can easily be solved. There is no lens just body, what would something like this be worth?

I guess for the price of repair and purchase, you could pick up a beaten, but working M.
I would not buy it.

The best camera is one that still works!
An MD 2 is a finderless camera isn't it ... designed mainly for medical work?
That makes it a lot less attractive in my book ... I certainly wouldn't be considering it.

Can't find a completed listing price on ebay for an MD2, however Ffordes have a black MD2 for £349 and a chrome MDa for £499. You may get them cheaper privately or on an auction site.
You would need to be able to determine the cost of the repair before you could get a value for the camera that you are looking at.
I assume that you want to put something like a 15mm CV with finder on it and use as a scale focus point and shoot?

I don't think it's worth it - in all probability you won't be able to fix it yourself, repair will cost more than a new MD2, and even if you repair it you have a meterless viewfinderless camera that's big for what it offers.

May I ask in what store you found it? I look around quite often, but other than one shop collecting screw-mount Leicas, I never found any here in Israel.
