Found film

While cleaning I came across a canister of film Kodak TX 400. I got this film in the late 80's and it got lost, never shot. It has not been in the freezer or fridge but has been out loose. Is this a candidate for the trash can or worth a shot to see what I get - if anything? If worth a go, how would you suggest I shoot it as I am sure it probably won't act like 400 anymore.

Apart from a increase in grain and noise it probably will act quite normal, if you treat it gently. That is, don't push the film, use regular Kodak developers (HC-110, Xtol or D-76), and don't use it for night shots or any other subject with vast areas of vulnerable shadow detail.

if its from the 80s id probably rate it around 100iso and develop normally. Films of that age will have quite a bit of base fog.

Remember, expose one stop more for every 10 years of expiration.

I've shot some film from the 80s and it came out very well. As said above, don't do anything too crazy with it, develop it and enjoy the results. 😀
