Have u done the plain uniform same color shot to highlight the spot issue and report problem to Sigma?

Hi Gary, I sent an email with the spot photos to Sigma yesterday. We'll have to see how Sigma deals with it since I bought that one in the States. If I had caught the problem in the first 30 days, Samy's would have given me a refund/exchange. When I first got my DP2M last October, I did in fact do a test run to see if there were any sensor spots, because there were such reports at the time. Unfortunately, I thought the problem had already been resolved (and I was under the impression that it was only present on DP2M units, not DP1M ones), so I didn't check the DP1M right after purchase :bang:. My guess is that eventually Sigma will help me iron this out. Will keep you posted. Jon

I haven't seen green color shift with skies but I do often see desaturated region when an image with relatively large dynamic range is under exposed. The most underexposed region loses most of color info so it looks like I did selective desaturation in those areas. But when I raise the exposure, the colors do not come back.

I've seen the same thing. Often the desaturated region has magenta noise. My work around now has been to use physical grad filters.

Another issue with dp2m is that when shot with strong light (sun) in the images, halations of red spots appear in a line or sometimes multiple lines (see image below)

I've experienced the red flare, too, but never seen it in patterns of lines.
Have you noticed if using a hood makes any difference?

I have only seen what I would normally issue when shooting into a bright light.. Never what u have.

Are u using the sigma lens hood. It's design is quite different from the norm.. Inside the hood they have essentially put a window w/ just enough width and height for the 45 fov. So any issues associated w/ flare at the edge of the lens or filter is minimized. I have one for the dp2m but I cannot find the sigma lens hood for the dp1m..

I am actually guilty of not using the sigma hood. I just have a UV filter on because I think the hood will make it fatter than I like. But I'm not sure how much difference it would've made in the shot since the sun was near the top-center of the frame.

I am not sure myself.. I have always used hood when possible. But your picture issue reminded me of a post of a forum that had some wierd issues as well.. It turned out to be internal refraction between the filter and the front lens element. Right now I can't even remember which forum even. Just remembered that picture really had some very weird looking reflection patterns...

The picture seems to have a lost of contrast due to the glare...

Anyway just a guess.
