FP-100C discontinued

probably there is a bit of misunderstanding between us.
Generally, Instax / integral film and pack film are two quite different and independant markets.
But:
Now, with the discontuniation of FP100, the FP100 users have to look for alternatives in the mid and long run. In some years their stock is empty.
And then my suggestions could be an alternative.

And: Lots of current Instax Wide users want to upgrade in quality. They like the film, and they know there is even more potential for improved quality with better cameras / and or backs.

Discontinuation of FP would be an ideal time to announce something new in "Instax system" and the reality is that they haven't (yet?). Might be that they are happy enough with what they have...

There is misunderstanding: I did not say that a back or higher quality camera must com from Fuji. That can be introduced by anyone who is seeing the market.
Lomograpy already had introduced a more sophisticated camera for Instax Wide. But that is still not the camera I am thinking of. I am more thinking in the direction of a kind of FP-1 type.

I prefered the 4x3 format of pack film over the 3x2 format of Instax.
Also, with FP-100C I had a fully developed image in 2 minutes and could easily fine-tune exposure. Instax film takes much longer to reach completion. 'Processing the negative' was another plus. However, they won't bring back the dead, so I will simply grieve.

Isn't that only true of the "mini" size? I thought the wide was pretty close to 4x3. But instax and fp-100c are different animals and as with you I grieve for fp-100c.

Well I was close to stocking up on 10 or 20 packs - but didn't order and now the price is $15 at B&H, $18 at Adorama, and $19 at Unique. At those prices I'll retire my cheap Polaroid and say goodbye.

I also have a large number of m3b flashbulbs if any of you are interested - I can't imagine I'll be able to use them now...

When I read the announcement three days ago I was shocked, for some reason I was not expecting this and I guess the chances of other businesses taking over FP100c production are next to zero.
I cannot accept that my beloved land camera 250 is comdemned into oblivion

I have not even used my Land 250 yet!
I will very carefully use all film that I have to enjoy photo by photo a medium that I have not used before. Yes, it is sad, and we will see many additional sad events in the coming years. This may be a good reminder to use film if you are using only digital cameras now.
If life were perfect, we would see a Leica Instant Camera with interchangeable lenses and for low cost and with readily cheap available film ... but this is unlikely to happen.

Hey anyone here know who's done a conversion of a Land camera to take sheet / roll film / Instax Wide? Just wondering if such a thing is even possible. I would think that something like Instax (maybe not the wide one since it ejects on the landscape side) is doable.

Razzle in Melbourne, Australia did Polaroid pack camera (95, 100 models etc) conversions to 4x5 backs. The results were impressive. However I last heard the guy doing it was giving up, and that was some time ago.

There are some people in the USA doing conversions. After I use up all my film, I may look for someone. Maybe not. I have too many cameras to enjoy.

I understand all that. Except that I think that Instax is inferior to FP-100c, but that is beside the point.

According to fuji's own datasheets FP-100C is 15lines/mm, Instax 10 lines/mm. And it shows. So putting Instax in a better camera might not be a solution.

Worth a shot if I run into a cheap instax body.

Keep an eye on ebay. I have found several deals on cameras w/film that were left over from a wedding.

I just bought a Wide 210 camera (with box) and 6 packs of double film (120 shots total, expired) for $50. I could resell the camera alone for almost that price.

Thinking about opening up the camera and seeing if I could adapt it to a Polaroid 110A.

I'm also playing around with shooting instax mini in a Medalist II with the cut film back. It works but I need to get better at "developing" the print and the built in rangefinder adjustment for the cut film back isn't quite enough.
