Frame counter incorrect on new GF670

Hello,
Well, I bought a new Fuji GF670 from B&H and love the camera. Unfortunately, the frame counter goes to 15 or 16 when I shoot a roll of 120, meaning the shutter keeps getting cocked and allowing me to fire past the 12th frame. I don't get any shots after the standard 12, however. The switch is set to 120 and is displayed correctly on the back.

Is there something wrong with my camera? It is within the return period so I can return it, but I would rather keep it.

This is normal. because with 120-Film the backing paper is longer then the 12 shots of the film. In order to keep the light from the film you have to wind on the paper around the spool.

Ah, of course, I understand, but my Rolleiflex lets me wind through that section of the roll without cocking the shutter. It's kind of a bummer that I have to keep looking at the film counter to see if I have used up the roll, otherwise, I will think I have taken four more shots than I actually have.

Nope, the back says 120 and the pressure plate is set to 120, I checked a few times. Can anybody else verify that their GF670 does the same thing? Maybe I'll try to write to Fuji.

When I had a gf670, when it reached the end of the film, it just kept winding, it didn't stop to take the photo, I didn't need to fire the shutter.
It's either on 220 mode or something is wrong with it :-(

Maybe B&H could advise too, it does not sound quite right to me.

have you read the instruction on rewinding films? 6x7 has 12 frames on a 120, 6x6 has 13-14 frames. if you mix the frame size in a roll, can't imagine the camera is smart to count. if it is end of the roll, advancing film has no resistant.

To change the frame size, you need to open the back, which would reset the frame counter anyway.

To quote the manual: "Sizes cannot be switched in mid roll". By the way, medium format is not rewound, and it is 12 6x6 frames on 120 or 10 6x7.

I can confirm mine does not do this. I have mine set to 6x7, 120 size, I put in a fresh roll and confirm both sides are locked, advance film until the arrows line up as they should, close the back and wind until it stops. After 10 shots the counter stops.

120 film in 6x6 has 12 frames, 6x7 has 10 frames. With 220 film you have 24 frames in 6x6 and 20 frames in 6x7. Like someone else mentioned you can't switch between 6x6 and 6x7 in the middle of the roll because you'll expose the film to light, and besides, the switch is behind the film.

I put a call in to the Fuji repair center and the guy there is going to check for me if it is normal to not wind through the trailing leader. I'll call back after the new year. It seems strange that it doesn't just wind past the 12th frame. I'll report my findings.

The repair guy also mentioned that people are breaking their cameras by forcing them closed without setting the lens to infinity first. So, everybody, you must set the lens to infinity in order to close the camera!

I looked at the 6x6 and 6x7 switch again and while it was pointed to 6x6, it might not have been locked into position, so perhaps that's the reason. I'll shoot a roll tomorrow and see if it goes through 12 frames correctly.

So, I chased the light around Central Park this afternoon; the counter is working correctly. I guess it was off because the 6x6/6x7 switch was not locked into either position, but I'm not sure. I'll follow up with someone in Fuji's repair department to make sure.
