Hello all,

In the very near future, I plan to buy a good printer and would like to start framing some of my photos.

What stores or suppliers do you all go to for frames and matting?

Looking for a few good recommendations. Thanks! :)

+1 for Frame Destination. Love their complete frame packages and the online wizard to pick the matte, frame, and glass. Quantity discounts too and shipped to your front door. Just received one this morning that I am using to frame a print to enter in a fine art competition.

http://www.americanframe.com/

has a good selection, a dependable size calculator, reasonable prices, and I've never had an order they made a mistake on..

American Frame is my normal supplier for the same reasons. I normally order frames / mat board / foamcore backing / pexi in batches of 20 to 30 identical units for an exhibit.

PLUS, they really helped me out with both prioritizing my order and cutting me a extra break on price once when I was in a tight spot.

Ooof. That's expensive. Actually, this framing stuff is a lot more expensive than I'd hoped. Looks like it is 35 - 60 dollars per set of frame / matting / glass.

Depending upon the size you want to frame (I like 6x9 photos and pay about $20 per custom cut set-up), it is a little cheaper but not much. You can always get pre-assembled frames from places like Aaron Brothers in the standard sizes (4x6, 4x7, 8x10, 8x12) for about $5-$15...

You might try UV acrylic OP-3 instead of glass 20x40x1/8 cost me 38$ so 8x10 would not break the bank.

Good call. I'm happy to do that.

I'm sorry to be so much trouble, but if one of you wouldn't mind helping me out, could you check and see if my proposed order (below) from frame destination is good to go? Really, I'd just like another set of eyes to make sure I haven't screwed up one of their many options.

I'm thinking about ordering the following, so just let me know if something needs to be changed:

-- 8x10 photo with 11x14 wood frame
-- Mounting, 4ply Alphamat
-- Matte color 8655 pure white
-- Wood profile 502, black
-- Mountboard is foamboard acid free art care 3/16th inch
-- nonglare acrylic

That brings the total per frame to $37.45

Anything need adjusting? Anything else I need other than the above and hinging tape?

Thanks.
