Still smarting from dropping my Mamiya 7 and damaging the lens, the R-D1 steps up for a quick morning shoot in Frankfurt.

Hi Roundg. I haven't been to markets as I am just passing through. Do you know the significance of the locks on the bridge?

Yes, the locks are a testament of (unbreakable) friendship and/or love between the persons who put them there. You can find hundreds of them on a big bridge crossing the rhine in Cologne. It's just like leaving a heart engraved in the tree bark.

Great shots and a great camera. There are also hundreds of locks near the Uffizi Museum in Florence, Italy that we came across during a visit there last April. Amazing.

Thanks all for the info on the locks. It must be very much a European tradition.

Sort of, it is a mere five years old - invented and popularized by a book and its movie version set in Rome on the Ponte Milvio. See http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/05/world/europe/05iht-rome.4.6991537.html

The best camera is one that still works!
Very nice pics ... the old girl (Epson) can still hold her head high in a high tech digital world John.
