In anticipation of new light seal foam which I ordered last week, I decided to spend some time on my 7s and pop the top off. Glad I did, it was pretty dirty. The real reason for the minor overhaul was that the range finder image did not line up with the view finder image. The range finder image was always above the other. Part of the reason why it was not aligning was that the ghost frame was stuck, and not compensating for parallax of different focal lengths. The other reason is that there was dirt buildup under the range finder mirror mover assembly causing the range finder mirror to raise ever so slightly. It's too bad I don't see any adjustment screws for up and down. During the overhaul which is only half way complete, I found a black steel thrust washer just laying on my bench. OOPS! Where does that go? I asked myself. I had a good idea that it would only fit in one place, and the fact that I really hadn’t taken very many things apart, I decided that it fit under the shutter release A-R knob.
